remember last week’s post, where i was all like ‘oh hooray, spring’s come to london!’? well, i take it back. it was actually snowing when we got into the city yesterday afternoon. snowing! and it’s nearly march! i didn’t mind too much though, because you can’t help but love this city, even when it’s grey and dreary and even your boyfriend’s long johns can’t keep you warm.

we (mum, francesca and i) met my cousin emily at waterloo for an afternoon of shopping the boutique stands at somerset house. now, i’ve heard good things about shopping at london fashion weekend in the past so i’m not sure if this one was just a dud, but it was…not so great. after sticking it out for an hour or so (i played an enjoyable game called ‘spot the blogger’!) we decided to escape up to covent garden. you know, as much as i flirt with the king’s road and notting hill areas of london, covent garden really does have my heart.
we talked about emily’s wedding (so exciting!) drank raspberry mojitos (i drank one, and it made me embarrassingly woozy!) and ate what i’m calling the best burger ever. i’d quite like to have byron’s blue cheese sauce on tap, please.

special oscar speech-style mentions for the kind lady in lush, who chopped up three different shampoo bars for me so i could take them home to sample, and to mum for treating us all day long. thank you!

today i finally got to meet up with my beautiful best friend jo after going way way too long without seeing one another! it’s always so tricky to try and find time to catch up, because jo lives in london and is training to be a doctor (she’s a smart cookie, this one) and trying to match up our busy schedules is always such a nightmare! but find time we did, and we had such a delightful day pottering around our lovely city :) london was eerily quiet today after the immense crowds of yesterday, but red white and blue mania was still going strong…
we went for lunch at byron burger, and oh.my.gosh. the burgers no wait, all the food was super super delicious! we ate a classic american meal of bacon cheese burgers and fries and i even had a strawberry milkshake too (what can i say?! i was hungry after all that boring plain rice sick person food yesterday!)

you know you’re true friends when you let her have the first taste of your much anticipated milkshake! ;)

it really was delicious!

after our lunch, we went shopping on oxford street so that i could hunt down some lovely bikinis for my holiday at the end of the month. i know i know, swimsuit shopping after lunch, what was i thinking!? but thankfully there were no fitting rooms (i think it was a sign!) so i’m relying on accessorize not having changed their sizes since i last bought a bikini from them! also, i finally found the perfect floppy sun hat and i’m so excited to wear it on holiday :)
we even managed to stop by the wonderful hummingbird bakery so that i could pick up some cupcakes  to bring home for jason. what with burgers, fries, milkshakes and cupcakes, it was really quite an all-american day!
