We had such a lovely Christmas this year! The big day itself was spent at Jason’s Mum’s house. She and Jason’s older brother Nobby (real name Russell, but no-one ever calls him that!) catered for 13 people, and made it look oh so easy! We went over there at lunchtime along with my Mum and sister, after a long walk in the morning in an attempt to tire out that dog of ours. It didn’t work a mite, of course. Teddy spent his day making mad attempts to sneak off with Sylvanian Family figures and Lego pieces, and sitting next to the bin in the hope of being fed plate-scrapings.  A huge chunk of our day disappeared over lunch (as is always the way with Christmas) but aside from turkey-devouring we spent the rest of the day playing cards, and games, having a wrapping paper fight, trekking through the woods behind Julia’s house, and eating more cheese than you could shake a stick at. Oh, and Jason’s sweet nephew Darcy taught me how to build a motorbike out of lego. He’s a pro, you see.

^^ My sister and I were dressed pretty similarly on Christmas Day (light coloured printed dress, black tights, grey cardigan) and even though we don’t look very much alike and she’s so much fairer than me, it messed with people’s heads all day long! I guess that’s what comes from lending out your clothes! ^^

Jason and I stuck to a small budget when buying gifts for each other this year, since there wasn’t really anything major we wanted. I gave Jason some books, a scarf, and a set of the glass double-walled mugs we’ve been lusting over for the longest time. He gave me two beautiful fine gold rings from The Bohemian Collective, and a cream marl cardigan that slouches in all the right places. Teddy was given a new bone and ‘lovie’ earlier in the month, and got his very own plate of turkey, trimmings and gravy on Christmas day. He made us all laugh by picking around the braised red cabbage I put on his little plate, which was the side dish Jason and all his brothers refused to eat at dinner too ;)

We spent Boxing Day evening with my Mum, and she cooked what will be known forever as the Greatest Beef Ever! Four pounds of boneless rib, cooked rare. It blew us clean away. And now, we’re all getting excited for New Year’s Eve! Jason and I are staying home this year, getting in some pizza and beer, and watching crappy films. We can’t wait! And because you know I love nothing more than an opportunity for resolution-making and list-writing, you can expect a couple of posts coming your way over the next week or so full of New Year’s resolutions and collections of things I’ve been grateful for this past year! Hooray!

I hope you had a most marvellous Christmas, and a happy New Year’s Eve tomorrow!

We spent my birthday eating non-stop, which is my favourite way to spend a birthday. Or any day, really. It began with brunch at Bill’s (I had bubble and squeak along with eggs and sausage and bacon, which was totally amazing) and then moved on to cake at Jason’s Mum’s house, and finished up with steak at Cau in the evening. The steaks were good, but nowhere near as good as the tempura fried belly pork we had as a starter, and the dulce de leche cornflake sundae I ate for dessert. Ohhh man. I met up with Tania, Freya and Lizzie last night for drinks and dinner in London (more on that later!) and when I was telling them about that belly pork, an actual hush fell over the table as we all thought about the fabulousness of belly pork fried in the lightest of batters, served with spicy ketchup. Those girls and I- our friendship is built on the basis of a shared love for really, really great food :)

So, 23! It feels pretty great so far, I can’t tell a lie. I’ve decided that 23 is going to be the year I become a Very Organised Woman. I’m going to always have stamps in my purse. And blister plasters in my handbag. Never wash one white sock in with a dark load of laundry and dye it a horrible grey colour. Always brush my hair. Do the dusting before it gets so bad you could write your name in it on the television. Carry a diary around with me with all my dates and meetings and engagements in it, instead of attempting to remember them all and forgetting half of them. Keep a birthday book, and always send out birthday cards to friends and family in good time. Get ready for a serious transformation, my friends! I’m about to get all kinds of organised and mature, just you wait and see!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you had a marvellous day yesterday! Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a selection of the most darling blogs! They make for some truly fabulous reading- perfect if you’re in a need of a break from the hectic family-turkey-chocolate-gameplaying-countrywalk-and-tidyingup routine that is Christmas! Enjoy!

A Life of Geekery
Vicki’s blog has been a daily read of mine, ever since I discovered her incredible recipe for Tom Kha Gai- Thai chicken, coconut and ginger soup. It’s even more amazing than it sounds! A Life of Geekery is full of wonderful, exciting, and inventive recipes, and Vicki’s photography always knocks me for six. Her recipe posts are peppered with fun gift guides, how-tos, and the odd lifestyle post too. In short, it’s fabulous, and you should all start reading it ASAP!
Favourite post of the past month? Sheer Spice Indulgence.

World of Wynne
Hanna’s blog has become a favourite of mine since it was introduced to me last month. Her photographs are seriously stunning, all dreamy and romantic and minimalist. I love the clean, simple nature of her blog- it’s the sort of read you incorporate into your day-to-day routine, stopping by to catch up with on the way to work in the morning, or whilst out walking the dog. I especially adore her baking posts, and the wonderful photographs that accompany them.
Favourite post of the past month? Brownie in a mug.

Dear You Love Em
I’m so happy to see Emily back at the helm of her blog again! It’s such a lovely read, and Em is just the sweetest. Her Christmas Tag post filled me with festive spirit, and doesn’t it just make you want to ignore the world for a few days and watch Love Actually on repeat? I love the sweet, friendly way she writes, and always leave her blog looking forward to reading the next post that comes along. Excited to watch her darling blog grow over the next year!
Favourite post of the past month? The Christmas Tag! (Of course!)

Lilac Tinted Views
Reni’s blog was new to me in December, and it’s such a fun one! She blogs about oh so many things- from hair, to fitness, to food, to lifestyle! I especially loved her ‘Plantain Party’ post…though it made me ashamed to have never tried plantain before! Reni balances out her lovely photographs (check out her photos from her trip to the Lake District!) with fun stories and anecdotes, and seems to have a wonderfully bright and infectious spirit.
Favourite post of the past month? Misadventures in the Lake District!

The Grass is Dancing
Claire’s blog is absolutely wonderful. It’s a blog for *reading*- the type you can really sink your teeth into, whilst still remaining light and entertaining and laugh out loud funny. Claire is a writer (a real one!), lives in Stockholm, and her ‘About’ page made me pretty much desperate to be her real-life friend. Seriously, go and have a read of it. She’s totally fabulous, and I’m certain her darling blog will capture your imagination in an instant.
Favourite post of the past month? Good Tidings We Bring.

Cocktails and Caroline
I love blogs like Caroline’s. It’s the sort you can live vicariously through- experiencing wonderful meals, and exciting adventures, and nights spent dancing and drinking cocktails, and trips to beautiful places. I love it!  Caroline’s photos and restaurant reviews from Brussels were especially brilliant. Oh, and this lady knows how to travel in style. She put together and ate a cheese picnic, on the Eurostar, on the way to Brussels. How fabulous is that!?
Favourite post of the past month? Picnic on the Eurostar.

Dipped in Rococo
I’m so glad to have Dipped in Rococo linked in my sidebar again! It makes it all that much easier to go and spend time perusing Kasia’s beautiful posts! Kasia’s film photography is some of the dreamiest I’ve ever come across on a blog. It’s wonderfully inspirational, as is her beautiful writing. I’ve just loved reading through all her posts this winter, and if you’ve yet to come across her darling blog…you’re in for a treat!
Favourite post of the past month? The Past and Pending (which technically is from October, but is too stunning not to share)

The Awkward Blog
Now, you know I have the biggest crush on Angela’s blog, right? I’m totally in love with it. For a start- Angela’s totally awesome, and then combine that with her wonderful photography and awesome dress sense and fab writing style? It’s pretty much perfection, I tell you! Oh and also, hey December-birthday buddy! ;)
Favourite post of the past month? Coffee, East London, and lots of photos!

A Little Abstract
I’ve so enjoyed reading Abi’s blog this month! There’ve been some new and exciting changes in the world of A Little Abstract. A new home for Abi! A new blog design! And both are crazy beautiful! She’s currently in the middle of a series all about the decor of her darling new cottage (I have major home envy!) and is making me feel woefully slacking on the festive front, what with all her beautiful wrapping paper and ribbon. It’s the sort of wonderful blog I get excited to introduce you to, since I know you’re going to just love it! :)
Favourite post of the past month? New Home Series #1

Sophie in the Sticks
Sophie’s blog has been another lovely read in December! Sophie’s been Christmas tree-buying, dog-walking, pizza-making, and photographing! I especially loved her photos from her trip to Elveden. That fudge, and those chocolates! Don’t they look amazing? Sophie’s blog is just lovely, and is one I wholeheartedly recommend taking a peep at.
Favourite post of the past month? A Christmassy trip to Elveden.

Penchanting
Amber’s blog is SO lovely! I absolutely adore her cheerful, friendly writing style- it’s another of those ‘I feel like we’re friends not strangers’ kind of blogs, and reading it always leaves me feeling happy. I also love love love her ’23 goals before 23′ idea- and she’s totally inspired me to make some goals to achieve in the next year!
Favourite post of the past month? Notes to November.

Thursday Afternoon
I am so, so glad to have been introduced to Sara’s blog this month. It’s absolutely gorgeous. The design is beautiful, her photographs are dreamy, and I love the candid, journal-form her posts take. It’s the sort of blog you get hooked on and end up reading right from the beginning, devouring page after page of lovely old posts. Magic.
Favourite post of the past month? Saturday night.

Being Erica
I’ve so enjoyed reading Being Erica this month. Erica’s been to Winter Wonderland, got a fancy new Winter coat, worn some gorgeous floral crowns, and been to Copenhagen! Phew! Her blog’s a delightful mixture of style, wish list, outfit, and lifestyle posts, and is such a lovely read. I especially loved her beautiful photos of Copenhagen- go and take a look!
Favourite post of the past month? Copenhagen // Day One

Duck in a Dress
Louisa’s blog is such a sweet one. She began writing in March of this year, and shares snippets of her day to day life ‘at the duckpond!’, weekend adventures, and photographs from time spent with her lovely husband. I especially loved her beautiful photos from the Christmas market in Cheltenham- those vintage trays are just the cutest finds!

Cats, Lifestyle + Interior
Miriam’s blog has been so lovely to read in December! It’s been full of Christmas joy and festiveness, with posts about crisp winter walks, festive decor, even the odd video or two!
