A Snapshot: Wednesday (and a bit of Tuesday, too)

- today has been all about pottering around town, treating myself to some pretty new colours, lotions and potions, and then meeting a friend at lunch for carbs and gossip. i just love days like today, ‘pottering’ is (in my opinion) the world’s best activity and i think it should be mandatory ;) oh and also, i’m not officially on the hunt for those cute little handleless glass mugs zizzis serve hot chocolate and lattes in! they’re just too cute! if anyone knows where to find them, please oh please point me in the right direction! :)

- my lovely new camera arrived yesterday afternoon, squeeee! i’ve been playing with it non-stop, and i love it so! it’s a handsome little devil, i think ;) can any fellow canon owners answer a question for me though: why does autofocus take so much longer when using the live view screen, than when photographing using the viewfinder? thanks in advance, lovely folk :)

- now, i am not normally interested in sports (unlike jason, who’ll watch everything from rugby to curling and all the rest in between) but i can’t get enough of the olympic sports coverage at the moment! i love how supportive and proud our country is of team gb, and all the lovely ‘come on team gb!’ messages on twitter give me goosebumps. overly sentimental? that’s me!

- today (and yesterday) i’ve been watching: olympic artistic gymnastics final. listening to: lana del ray’s album, eating: goat’s cheese ravioli, yum yum. looking forward to: catching up on this week’s episode of the borgias (does anyone else watch it?) and seeing my mama next week when she’s back from holiday.

Squeeeeeeee I got my new camera a few weeks ago too, and have already been on a course to learn how to use it haha. What do you mean by live view and view finder though? Happy to help if I can xx

  ooh that sounds so useful! can i ask where you did your course? :) live view i mean the little screen on the back, and viewfinder that little window that you look through, old school camera style! ;) when i use autofocus when looking through the viewfinder and with the screen turned off it’s super quick, but when the screen and the viewfinder is shut autofocus takes much longer? thanks for helping :)x

  I don’t mean to sound funny, but I don’t like to give out information on where I live etc online, you never know who’s reading! But i’ll send you a DM on twitter to let you know :)
  Ahh, the first thing the camera man told me was not to use Auto, ever, haha. So I haven’t used it once yet. One thing I would suggest though is just using it through the viewfinder, you’ll get a far more accurate shot that way :) Perhaps on the autofocus for live view it’s just not sure where to focus? you know the little button at the top on the right hand side that looks like four little sqaures? Click on that and you should be able to manually choose where to focus. (again, not sure if this works on auto settings, but it definitely will on AV)

  ooh no that’s not strange at all, i’m super careful about what i share online too :) thanks so much, that would be great! ahhhh this is such good advice, thank you thank you! i knew it would be a big learning curve but i didn’t realise it would be this big, haha! i remember so clearly teaching my grandma how to use her mobile phone and wondering why she found it so confusing, but this must have been how she felt- so confused by all the buttons and the new terminology! :) i’m definitely going to use manual focusing all the time from now on, thanks for you help! xx

  i’m just experimenting with all the different products at the moment! the lemon cuticle butter is my favourite so far, it smells amazing! buying a fancy camera feels like such a big ‘blogging step’ doesn’t it? :) do you have the same one? x

Love your camera :) I think the one I use is similar but to be honest I have no idea.. it’s Luke’s baby and he doesn’t trust me to do much more than point and shoot lol x

Ohh I love Berts bees lipbalm! I just got a new canon camera too, my first DSLR- so exciting! I think the reason it takes longer for autofocus on live view because it is harder to keep still than looking through the viewfinder, so it’s wobblier so takes longer to focus. That is so untechnical, I hope it makes sense!

Eeeepp that camera is a monster O_O! You lucky duck you! Ohh im sorry i dont know much about cameras/anything techy >_< i've been kind of waiting for people to realise that when im not using my film camera, the rest of the pictures on my blog are taken with my phone or webcam hehe. Tis the reason my corner of the internet is a load of poooo :( I am a bad brit and have not seen much of the olympics >_< (we threw a massive olympics party though! Does that count?) But we have two tres handsome italian lodgers staying with us currently so i am being forced to support Italy in every sport anyway >_< Hope you have a lovely week!! xoxox

Can i ask what model is the camera? :)
But i do remember the feeling when i got my DSLR camera, like a little kid, but it passes sadly ( not that i don’t appreciate it, but every new thing gets ‘older’ :D)

And a correct aswer already came by someone, that it takes more time on the screen because the camera is wobbling, you can even see the difference between them, because shooting through eye is always a better idea :)
