We started our Sunday at the ungodly hour of 7am, to get a headstart on our journey down to the New Forest to visit Jason’s Dad and stepmum. Layers were piled on (since the weather seems to have snapped in the past few days), coffees were collected on the way, and we made it down to the New Forest in record time.
We headed out for a walk not long after arriving, and I mainly spent the time marvelling at the loveliness of having wild ponies right on your doorstep. Teddy too thought it was brilliant- he tried to make friends with the horse in these photos, and couldn’t work out why charging up to the horse’s feet then running away madly wasn’t resulting in the game of chase he so badly wanted ;)
The rest of our day was spent eating, mainly. Michaela always cooks the most incredible food (often two types of meat AND two types of potatoes for one Sunday roast, oh boy!) and this time we ate slow cooked venison casserole, then mini pavlovas, and then a round of cheese and biscuits, and drank some beautiful red wine alongside it all. I can honestly say that I’ve never been so full of food in all my life.
After all that, and before a slow drive home to the sounds of George Ezra, we napped. Because really, what’s a Sunday without a nap on the sofa?
