On grey July days, when the weather just won’t play ball and you’re on the most exciting countdown of your life, there’s nothing else to do but have a ‘favourites’ day. Don your favourite top and your comfiest jeans and your old faithful Birkenstocks, leave your hair scruffy, and head into London armed with a camera and an appetite for sweet stuff.

Violet cafe is always a safe bet on favourite days. The cake is unfailingly fantastic, and the iced coffee’s pretty great too. Through a very arduous process of testing and trialling, we’ve found that the  spelt cake with cherries and the salted caramel rum cake (I can’t remember the full name, but you’ll know it when you see it), are without doubt outstanding. Oh, and the buttermilk banana loaf hits the spot too. As you an imagine, testing was hard work! ;)

Once cake’s been consumed (and a few other admin-stops have been made along the way), Liberty’s is the next and best place to visit on ‘favourite’ days. Fragrance testing in Diptyque, photo-snapping outside the flower department (don’t they always have the most incredible blooms?), colour-swatching in the cosmetics hall- it’s a total haven! And a bank balance-damaging haven it is too…

What does a ‘favourite’ day look like for you?

Cafes are my favorite place to go to for a relaxing afternoon! The cafe near my home that I like to go to is Maan Coffee. They have the most delicious waffles, toast, and coffee, and the interior is gorgeous. I would be more than fine sitting there all day just reading :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

This is my idea of a favourite day, too – it generally involves taking my mum out to a sweet little cafe not far from where we live, wandering in all the little shops, maybe popping to a garden centre on the way home, and getting some new flowers.

I love it really to visit cafes but unfortunately here in the Bavarian country we don’t have really a lot of them … but this cafe you show here looks indeed as a wonderful place with yummy stuff :)

A favourite day starts with a lot of coffee and a slow morning, then spending the day with my closest friends and finishing it off with girly predrinks and going dancing!

A favourite day would definitely include a visit to a cafe for cake and tea and to read a good book for a bit. Oo or cuddled up on the sofa under a blanket with hot chocolate and watching movies, I love those type of days! I like the sound of buttermilk banana loaf and salted caramel rum cake, might have to try and find a recipe or something! Hope you’re having a lovely time in Thailand! x

Sounds great! If I come to London again I will definitely go to the Violet café! For me a favourite day would be to go to the Raw Food House in Malmö and eat one of their delicious cakes (I really love the Snickers cake they do!) because they are so good but still not bad for you ;)

I need to have my own favorites day! It would start with a trip for iced coffee, a nice walk on the trails, perhaps a stop at a local bakery (I NEED a salted caramel rum cake slice in my life) and the rest of the day would be spontaneous!

I like the idea of a favorites day! There’s a cupcake shop not far from where I live, so I’d definitely go there. Then I might sit by the lake and read and book in between playing with my Mom’s dog and chatting.
