I was mindlessly browsing YouTube last weekend, when LuluLemon’s ’Give Presence’ Christmas campaign advert popped up on the video I’d just clicked through to. I got ready to hit ‘Skip Ad’, whilst sitting through those obligatory five seconds of viewing time. But when those five seconds were up, I watched five more, and five more after that, and before I knew it the whole advert was up. It was the idea of ‘giving presence’ that really got me. The idea that the most valuable thing we can give is our full attention to the moment we’re in, the people we’re with, the beauty we’re surrounded by. The mantra of ‘give presence, give presence’ has been going over and over in my head ever since I watched the video, and I already feel like it’s helping me to be less distracted and more concentrated on breathing deeply and living in the moment.

These photos were taken during a walk round the lake, when the air was thick with mist and we could barely see from one side to the other. Teddy fished a tennis ball out of the water and carried it like a trophy the whole way round, and we stopped lots of times to breathe and relax and enjoy the amazing crisp air. Turns out, presence is where it’s at…

What a beautiful post! I love the dreamy, slightly eerie quality of the photos, and you’re right, it’s so important to remember to be present. Since I’ve started blogging, I’ve found it harder and harder to be present in the moment, without thinking about various forms of social media! It’s a particularly good mantra to bear in mind at this time of year, when life can get so hectic.

It’s a very relevant notion. I love when something unexpected takes you like that and stays at the forefront of your mind! On another related note, Shay’s brother-in-law is one of Lululemon’s ambassadors – pretty cool! x

I couldn’t agree more about being present! I feel like we all get so boggled down by our to-do lists, but it’s true what they said about it being there because we said ‘yes’ to it. thanks for sharing, rosie! and gorgeous pictures. I’ve had a serious hankering for fog lately and this just about did the trick. happy american thanksgiving!

    love, arielle

I can so relate to this – I have made it a goal for December to be more present and enjoy the christmas season. I’m far too guilty of being attached to my phone or laptop! PS – love that scarf :) x

These photos are so gorgeous. I couldn’t agree more about the meaning behind giving presence and trying to adopt the notion into our own lives. It’s something I’ve definitely been striving more and more for lately.

Also, just wondering, do you take a tripod with you to capture these photos? Or does Jason take them? However you get them, they are so beautiful!

I need to see this advert! That strikes such a chord with me, we do need to get better at being present fully with people in this world where our brains have ‘too many tabs open’ so so true! Lovely pictures by the way :)

Oh myyyy, these photos are just beautiful. Mist really does make everything so romantic! Totally loving your outfit here too – I’m such a city mouse, I always see jackets and wellies as so idyllic and redolent of the country :) Gorgeous girl! xx

Good message, Rosie – I am most definitely not a ‘present’ person at the moment. It’s a constant wheel of next job, next project, next office visit, next tank of petrol, next weekend, next night out, next morning…know what I mean!? So maybe that will be my New Years Resolution. :)

By the way, I have this scarf too and it’s by far my favourite, but it is driving me mad too! Do you find it’s an awkward length and shape?I love that it’s long but it’s quite literally a blanket and I’m struggling with tying it in any sensible way… you seem to have cracked it!
