If you, like me, are fond of the contrast between hot and cold (think burying down under a heavy duvet but leaving the windows wide open on chilly autumn nights, and the satisfaction of changing into warm dry clothes after getting soaked with rain), then taking a flask of hot chocolate along on a country walk this autumn will most certainly be a thing to try. We did it this past weekend, and drank our way through several mug-fuls of piping hot chocolate whilst enjoying the crisp autumn breeze on our faces, and watching Teddy charge around us chasing crows. I think it’s set to be my new favourite way of making a routine weekend dog walk feel extra special this autumn.

p.s. I’m wearing jumper from Brora (past season, similar cut here), shirt from Hollister, jeans from GAP (on sale right now!), and Hunters. Jason’s wearing shirt from H&M, jeans from Tommy Hilfiger, and Hunters. Teddy is wearing a rather handsome black spaniel coat he grew all by himself.

This looks gorgeous! I really want a pair of hunters for autumn, and am planning on a cold picnic for my birthday in november! xx

Love this. I want to take a similar photo series of doing this with Minty. The image series would run like this: Img1 – Dog stands on rug while Cath is trying to lay it out; Img 2 – Dog barges up under Russ’ arm while he tries to pour hot chocolate and spills it all over Russ’ leg and the rug; Img 3 – Cath sips hot chocolate straight from flask like gin while sitting on dry bit of rug with Dog standing on her lap trying to lick her face while Russ stands some distance away, taking deep breaths.

It. Would. Be. Amazing. Not the same as this beautiful series of photos. Not that kind of amazing. The other kind. ;)

I don’t know how I’ve lived 30 years and not ever taken a flask of something on a dog walk before!! Someone blew my mind with tea last week and now you (adorable) guys and the hot chocolate – I really need to get on this.
    Gorgeous photos Rosie.

Lovely post Rosie – I completely agree about the contrast between hot and cold. I’m always leaving windows open and then snuggling down under blankets and duvets. Oh, and those Gap jeans are just brilliant – I bought my first pair a couple of months ago and am addicted!

I love taking hot chocolate out on walks, especially in Richmond Park, as if it’s raining (no matter how hard) you can hide under the rhododendrons and stay completely dry whilst you warm up!

Oh man, this looks like the perfect day out. I live only a short train away from a really adorable little forest so it’s a lovely day out when we do go, and my dog loves it! The falling leaves would be the perfect scenery for a few snaps- and of course I’ll be hauling flaskfuls of tea and hot chocolate!

I love this idea, so cute and romantic on those crisp afternoon walks xx

This is the cutest thing ever, and you both look wonderful together with your adorable dog Teddy. He does look very teddy-bear like. I think I might try this with the bf the next time autumn rolls round. I love hot chocolate and long walks so it sounds perfect. Like a cold-weather alternative to summer picnics. I don’t think I could get my malamute Kai to sit for long though.
