Here’s what made this weekend such a great one…

Breakfast-at-The-Tablespoon

A solo shopping trip in Guildford on Saturday afternoon. As much as I love shopping with other people, every now and again there’s nothing nicer than being able to shop entirely at your own pace, and with nobody to dissuade you from buying four candles in one go ;) Also, Jason owning parking spaces in central Guildford will never not be amazing. I’m grateful for it every time we use them at the weekends, and don’t have to feed a meter with a billion pound coins!

Late night cinema trips. (We saw Before I Go to Sleep, and in spite of what some rather scathing critics might say, thought it was amazing!)

Salted popcorn + lemonade + peanut M+Ms. (Though the popcorn wasn’t as tasty as I’d imagined it would be. Isn’t that always the way with cinema popcorn?)

An impromptu catch up with friends on Saturday afternoon, and an even more impromptu garden centre shopping trip!

Making time for an at-home Body Balance workout on Sunday morning. Felt torturous beforehand (and during, too), but so amazing afterwards.

Brioche french toast with more crispy bacon and maple syrup than you could shake a stick at. (Seriously, it was incredible. Just the right amount of cinnamon on the toast, so much syrup I didn’t even need to ask for more, and plentiful bacon. Jason’s eggs benedict was pretty great too!)

Reading newspapers + magazines over coffee and eggs on Sunday morning.

Getting the house looking pretty much spotless by the end of the weekend. Jason took charge of bathroom cleaning + vacuuming, I did the dusting, tidying and laundry, and all in all, we made the house look pretty sparkly! It feels so nice to be starting out the week with a house that’s not nagging to be cleaned.

Reading magazines in bed, with a hot water bottle against my back.

Getting the ratio of time spent out and about, and time spent at home exactly right. For me, a great weekend is all about finding that perfect balance.

How did you spend your weekend? I hope it was a lovely one!

Sounds like you and me had pretty similar weekends, minus the crispy bacon on french toast – sounds amazing.

Recently, I’ve felt quite happy spending time on my own, and find it quite relaxing to go into town on my own, and just wander about idly. That’s what I did on Saturday and made a pretty amazing purchase too, with no one to talk me out of it :) x

Reading this makes me miss home! I’m loving my past month here during my freshman year of college, but I miss the smell of breakfast wafting from the kitchen, eating breakfast in bed, and well, my bed!! (and also being able to use the shower without having to wear shower slippers) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

That crispy bacon french toast sounds fabulous! I tend to prefer shopping alone. I sometimes start to feel a bit guilty when I’m shopping with others and I feel like they are waiting for me, or would rather be in other stores. It’s too much for my inner people pleasing self to handle! x

Ooh, I’ve heard mixed things about Before I Go to Sleep but want to see how it compares to the books! Brioche french toast… possibly the best 3 words to hear (and cry at) on a Monday morning?! x

I love that feeling after a good workout! It really can suck beforehand but once you’re done? Oh my gosh endorphines! haha and finding that magic ratio between time out and time at home is the best :) I have yet to do that successfully!

There is nothing better than reading mags in bed, but with a hot water bottle behind – this sounds amazing. Bring on the chillier days! x

Sounds perfect – I love it when you end the weekend with the house tidy – don’t always manage it though! I spent a lot of the weekend having coffee dates with some wonderful friends so although my house is messy my heart is full:)

Sounds like such the perfect weekend! Mine was a quiet but relaxing one. I would’ve liked to spend more time out, but oh well. I did spend the whole Sunday afternoon out though, on a “tea crawl,” which was lovely. I got to discover a few really lovely tearooms in Glasgow.

Wow. Sounds like you had a great weekend! And I do love shopping alone, it gives you more time to browse and think about things without other people nagging you that it’s time to move on… :)

I saw that brioche french toast on Instagram and thought it looked AMAZING. I didn’t realize that Jason got eggs benedict too, which means you guys ordered my two favorite breakfast foods, haha. They look so mouth watering!

Now this really does sound like a lovely weekend! Proper shopping should always be done alone. I always have to take salt sachets to the cinema with me because they seem to scrimp on the flavour! We also had french toast this weekend for the first time ever and I loved it! And one of the things on my bucket list is to spend a weekend morning just reading magazines in a local coffee shop, but it hasn’t happened yet because a spare morning at the weekend is very hard to come by!xxx

I really liked ‘Before I go to sleep’ as well, I did however spend approximately 76.5% of it behind my scarf because I was so scared haha. Also: cinema popcorn in England – such an anticlimax (not that it stops me eating it by the kilo), in Germany it’s a completely different story. It’s crispier and more toffee-ey (at least where we go), so last time we went home, Daniel and I got some to take-away. The best bit about this was that they weren’t even confused about it being to take away, but instead wrapped it up good and proper. Glad you had such a good weekend :)

The best weekends are always punctuated with coffee, pastries and maple syrup!

Sounds perfect! I haven’t been to the cinema in so long and wasn’t sure what to see next- I always imagine popcorn being better than it is, but then I like savoury not sweet ;) xxx

The thing about cinema popcorn is that it always smells so amazing, so is inevitably a letdown! Just like waffles sold by street vendors…I swear, they pump out the smell of melted sugar or something. Glad to hear that Before I Go To Sleep was a good ‘un – it’s on my watch list! :) And yay for the arrival of hot water bottle weather! xx

The thing about any kind of workout is that as horrendous as it feels while you’re doing it, you do feel great afterwards and, even better, there’s no need for any guilt when you treat yourself after! I spent yesterday perfecting my brownie recipe, which is now at the point of producing amazing, just this side of too rich and gooey deliciousness. A weekend treat to be sure!
