The little things that make a weekend great.

01.07

Cider-with-Rosie-Sunday

Waking up early(ish), and seizing the day.

…but also sometimes sleeping in late, and savouring not having to wake to an alarm.

Long walks (preferably with a handsome dog running along ahead and handsome-er partner walking alongside you, if you’ve any to hand).

Reading a book in a bath that’s just the right temperature.

Listening to rain outside, whilst standing at the kitchen window eating ripe peaches and nectarines.

Trips out to the shops for sweet treats in the evenings.

Snacks of hummus on rye bread.

The feeling of sun on your shoulders and cheeks.

Lighting new, never-before-burnt candles.

Wearing all your favourite items of clothing at once, and not really caring if they go together all that well.

Spending time with family (cuddling gorgeous new babies especially).

Netflix marathons (OITNB finale, ohmygoshsoamazing).

Bringing the duvet downstairs and making a nest on the sofa with about a hundred cushions, and at least one hot water bottle.

…and not going on the internet all that much at all.

Love this, it reminds me of the ‘best things in life’ contributors feature at the beginning of each issue of Red mag. Thinking about the little things in life is my favourite! xxx

I love this list – it’s beautiful and made me smile! It’s so important to reflect on being grateful for the little things, those small moments that are so easy to miss. And also, it’s a lovely reminder that we should always make time for ourselves to really enjoy them, without guilt, without thinking about the next thing on our to do list, without feeling like we don’t deserve it!

    Thanks for sharing!

Waking up early on a weekend is one of the best feelings ever! There’s something to be said about making the most of the time off I do have and feeling like the days stretch on endlessly!

I agree with your list. A perfect weekend has to have the mix of laziness (the nest on the sofa is a must), we also have bed picnics where we sit in our pjs, watch a film and eat a nibble tea, with millions of cheeses and crackers-yum! Then you need a long walk on the beach and time with the family. Amazing weekends equals lazy plus walking plus family equals happy :-)

It really is the small things that count! Great list especially getting the bath at that just-perfect-temperature I’m sure there is an art to that one!

  • http://www.lifesopenpages.blogspot.co.uk Jade @ Bits & Bobs

That sounds like a pretty perfect weekend indeed. Find the right temperature when it comes to running a bath is so crucial, especially for a good old relax. It’s the little things in life eh.

I had a mild freak-out at the idea of snuggling on the sofa with a duvet, but then I realised that this was at the beginning of the month before the UK plunged into this horrid heatwave!

I will raise your long walk with a handsome partner and handsome dog with a handsome husband and gorgeous child ;) He still brings back sticks and other oddities, but is less slobbery.,,
