10 things that’ve made me happy this week!

Banoffe-waffle

Happy Friday, everyone! To me, yesterday felt like Friday. I was definitely ready for it to be Friday. Jason and I ate some super spicy chicken for dinner last night, and so ended up going on a post-spice-chocolate-craving outing to the nearest garage open at 10pm. We sat together and had a little car picnic, eating little chunks of Fruit + Nut (old school, & we love it) and talking through each of our days in turn. It was way more fun than sitting in front of the telly, for sure. This weekend my Mum and I are off to the Wealden Midsummer Fair (yay!) and then to Richmond on Sunday (along with my bridesmaids!) for another wedding dress fitting! It’s set to be a good one! If we could just have a little sunshine too, it would be perfect! Here’s what’s made me most happy, over the past week…

1. Those long, late-night chats with Jason, about the wedding and our future together and everything else in between. They’re my favourite.

2. Running through the rain storm to our house with Jason and Teddy on Wednesday afternoon. One of those moments that would’ve had an uplifting Coldplay underscore if it were in a film, you know? ;)

3. Catching up with my lovely cousin + aunt for a walk on Monday morning! We talked weddings. Duh.

4. The tragic look on Jason’s face when I told him we were having corn on the cob as part of our dinner yesterday evening. He’s not a fan…;) (Also, the corn on the cob I ate for dinner made me so very happy! I’d not eaten it in ages, and had forgotten how insanely delicious it is when cooked with a little olive oil and salt. Yum.)

5. A lunch of ice-cream and waffles (so bad, but so good) eaten during an accidentally-four-hour-long catch up with Jason’s brother’s girlfriend Lucy yesterday afternoon. Between their sweet baby on the way and our wedding plans, we just had a lot to talk about I guess! :)

6. Wearing sandals. All week long (no matter how crappy the weather’s been) I’ve not taken them off. It’s been good. (Also I have this weird obsession with wearing flip-flops in the house during spring and summer, and it’s back in full force again this year. I don’t know why, but I find it weirdly satisfying.)

7. Post-30 Day Shred Level 3 burn. How can a 20 minute work out hurt THAT much?! It hurts in a good way though. Kind of…

8. Wednesday’s storm. Watching it blow in so fast was kind of amazing.

9. Fruit, fruit, + more fruit. This week I’ve been going crazy for bananas, and yet more pineapple. I’m also planning to take a trip to the lovely fruit section of our local garden centre over the weekend to try and find the doughnut/flat/saturn peaches I loved so much last summer…

10. Finally mastering the art of the softly boiled egg. It’s only taken me about 2 years of trying…

Three posts I’ve loved reading this week :: Emily’s round up of her go-to summer items || Kristin’s June favourites (too perfect!) || & Sarah’s beautiful photos from her walk in the Scottish Highlands.

What’s made you happy this week? :)

p.s. My lovely soon-to-be brother-in-law Joe is taking on the Tough Mudder challenge up in Edinburgh in the next couple of weeks, to raise money for Help for Heroes. It’s a cause that we as a family are passionate about. Help for Heroes do such amazing work helping Servicemen and women in the UK, and Joe’s been training hard in preparation for the Tough Mudder challenge. Here’s a link to Joe’s fundraising page and to the Help for Heroes site, if you’d like to have a little read about the amazing work they do. And good luck Soldier Joe! x

Love these posts so much. Your little car park picnic sounds like a really precious moment – and so sweet :) I hope you have a lovely time at the Wealden Midsummer Fair – it’s so close to my hometown and I would have loved to have gone – looking forward to reading a post about it!

This week I had the most amazing toffee and churros sundae at a work lunch. It really was the highlight of my week. So delicious!

Yes! Totally with you a on flipping and flopping around the house, mine are glued to my feet right now! I guess it makes me feel a little like I could be on holiday, or better still that I live in some fabulous villa in South France or Italy or somewhere wonderful where the weather is like this daily and I wear flip flops because I have to (marble floors are a pain in bare feet, ya know!)

I love these sorts of posts. I always wear my flip-flops in the house around summer time, too. So comfortable!

Hi Rosie! I completely agree with the flip flop thing. I wear mine all of the time in the summer. Have a fantastic weekend! xxx

P.s. thank you so much for mentioning my Scotland post :) xx

Your breakfast looks amazing. It makes me want to try harder as it is such a lovely way to start to day. I’ve been wearing my sandals all the time but have now got horrible dry soles so have been wearing footcream under socks and slippers whenever I’ve been at home (probably TMI there!).
Ploughing through my pile of 73 school reports to write this week has made me better. Only 5 more to do and I’m done – hoorah!
It sounds like you’ve had a great week despite the unpredictable weather. Have a fab weekend – it sounds like you’re doing lots of lovely things. x

I feel Jason’s pain on the corn on the cob situation – I’m not a big fan either! I do, however, love the thrill of being caught in the rain (if I have nowhere important to get to!). Happy Friday!

I love those long conversations about the future. We had date night last night and had a similar chat, so warming and happy making!
I remember ringing my mum when I moved to uni to ask how to soft boil an egg… Ooops. Have a good weekend x

Walking Sam in that storm actually made me so happy. He loves to get messy so he was having a BALL.

Sounds like you’ve had a gorgeous week and ice-cream instead of lunch is totally acceptable. Why not?! ;)
