Jason and I are in the tricky initial stages of wedding planning- it’s all ‘big decisions’ and budgeting’ and ‘co-ordinating dates with a hundred people at once’…and all we really want to do is the fun stuff! You know- the colour schemes. Flowers. Stationery-desiging. Dress shopping. Entertainment-booking. We’re getting there though, slowly but surely! We’re right now pulling together ideas for how we want the overall vibe of our wedding to be, and are finding that we share a pretty clear vision of how we want the day to feel. I mean, we’ve not even bickered once…yet! ;)

The general mood we want to create for our wedding day is a fairly relaxed, English country village one. The colour palette is likely to be pretty muted and soft, with plenty of lush green foliage to accent. We’re hoping that we can create a kind of garden party sort of vibe for the day- with guests spilling out of whatever barn or rustic venue we end up hiring, having drinks and playing games and listening to music on the lawns and patio. In the evening we’re hoping to light the place up (both inside and out) with candles and string lights and paper lanterns everywhere, and are looking to hire a swing band to provide great music throughout the day. And that’s just about where we’re at so far! The above images are a pretty good representation of the sort of feel and mood we’re aiming for. I guess you’d maybe called it a Spring wedding theme? Though since we’re potentially going to be having the wedding in early July, it might just have to be a Spring-themed wedding, in Summer!

I have to agree that the budgeting was my least favourite part of wedding planning as well – my fiance however loves it, so left it to him to create a huge spreadsheet! We’re on the fun stage now, and trying to find a band for the reception at the moment.

Wedding planning is a funny thing isn’t it? So much to think about. We’re having a spring wedding next year and lots of those ideas are on our minds too. The British weather does mean we’re pretty much deciding it’ll rain, so no outdoor seating, as desperately as I would love tables set under trees and lights… We can get dreamy without the sunshine right?
I don’t know how you’re finding the ‘planning’ bit in terms of scheduling and keeping note of all the different options etc, but my mama bought me the Moleskine Wedding Journal and it is truly the most useful thing ever. It lays out pages for every aspect of your wedding planning and makes it so easy to keep track. It has made the less fun parts of the organising so much easier, and you might find it useful? (it is this one if you want to have a look)

Oh the excitement of the initial planning! I’m telling you, get as much done at the beginning as you can. We’re up to five weeks to go and while we have been incredibly organized, I’m finally starting to feel a bit of that infamous wedding stress! The hair in the first photo is gorgeous!

Your initial wedding ideas are lovely! When we were planning our wedding I collected lots of images and kept them in different files and them compiled idea sheets (one for dresses, hair etc). It’s so exciting planning all the little details but I would say get the main (boring) things out the way now! I love all your ideas so far, very romantic and relaxed! xx

The moodboard is so awesome! That seems similar to what I want my wedding to be like, but it will be more California dessert themed than English garden. Mainly I like the lace, cake and spring colors.

Well your plan sounds amazing, a very beautiful wedding! Good luck!
