MADE-rug

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week? I feel like this week has taught me two major things :: Number One. I really, REALLY appreciate good customer service. We’ve had kind of an awful experience with a wedding venue over the past couple of weeks now, that’s led to us going from being almost dead set on booking with them to thinking that there’s not a chance we’d trust them to handle our wedding day. Then I spoke to a new company (a marquee one, exciting!) yesterday who were so on the ball and helpful I breathed an actual sigh of relief when I got off the phone to them. Going from one extreme to the other made me really appreciate the value of prompt responses and a friendly telephone manner. (I realise that sentence kind of made me sound like an 85 year old, but you know. If the shoe fits…) And Number Two:: Trying to get an 18 month old spaniel to sit still long enough to take a photo of him is  actually really easy, so long as you have a rawhide bone in your hand. Then he’ll do absolutely anything you want.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend ahead of you! Here’s a little list of what’s made me most happy, in the past week…

1. Stumbling across a field full of napping lambs whilst out walking on Thursday morning! There were easily 40 lambs in the field, about 90% of which were sound asleep curled up alongside their siblings and mums. It was the absolute sweetest thing!

2. Watching Teddy play with the ginormous 5ft long cardboard tube that my new living room rug came rolled around yesterday afternoon. He strutted around the garden with it in his mouth and it kind of looked as though he was jousting, which made me laugh hard.

3. Pineapple. Sliced, stored in the fridge, and eaten in great wedges after morning dog walks. The best.

4. Seeing my Mum’s photos from Italy all this week (she’s on holiday in Lake Maggiore right now) and knowing that the weather’s stayed nice for her even though it was forecast to rain.

5. The naughty dog of ours who this week climbed up onto a garden chair to retrieve his mini rugby ball from on top of the table on the patio. I only realised he’d done it when he appeared at the back door with the ball in his mouth, looking equal parts smug and cautious. He’s just *too* smart! (I didn’t tell him off for his mountaineering, by the way. Couldn’t bring myself to do it!) (More brackets: he’s also started creeping up the stairs when waiting on us to take him out for a walk in the morning, because he knows it gets our attention. Can dogs reach a ‘terrible twos’ stage? Because I think ours has…)

6. Monday movie night with Jase. We ate pizza, popcorn, and watching Jerry Maguire. Too perfect.

7. Clearing the laundry basket. Mundane, but true.

8. Endless cups of tea. Especially the ones Jason makes for me in the evenings, because his really are the best.

9. Essie Watermelon nail polish. It’s been providing me with summer vibes all week long, even though the weather’s been so grey and miserable.

10. Taking a semi-rest day on Wednesday. I’d woken up sick, so took the day off work (well, kind of…) and spent most of the day camped out on the sofa with a blanket and glass after glass of water with fresh mint and ice. It was nice to have a slow, easy day, and even though I did still get work done, it was done at a much slower pace than normal. Also, three hours straight on Pinterest is never a bad thing ;)

Three posts I’ve loved reading this week :: the Minimalist Baker’s vegan + gluten free mint brownie ice-cream recipe (definitely going to try this soon, it looks amazing!) || Freya’s first few photos from Japan (so excited to see more!) || and Nicola’s (gorgeous!) photos from a delightful brunch of raspberry and ricotta pancakes!

What’s made you most happy this week? :)

Printed-photo

It was kind of an unofficial New Year’s resolution of mine this year to print more photos. I’ve always been terrible for making albums and actually getting around to framing the photos I take, but when my hard drive broke last year and I lost about 3 years worth of photographs (sob!), I thought it was probably time I got my act together and started having my favourite photos printed more regularly. A whole batch came through yesterday (I use Photobox, and am always pretty happy with their print quality) and it’s been so lovely to be able to sift through my favourite photos from the past few months in a tangible form, rather than just pushing the left and right buttons on my laptop.

I mentioned yesterday that I’m on a bit of a gallery wall kick right now, and will be sharing photos of the finished results when I’m all finished. I’ve been hoarding cards, letters, and prints over the past year or so with the intention of framing them at some point, and it’s been so fun to sort through them all and pick out the most special ones for framing. The ‘Best Day Ever’ postcard above was my birthday card from Tania back in December, and I love it so!

Do you print your photos? It’s the sort of task that always gets pushed to the bottom of a to-do list, don’t you find? :)

After about a zillion hours of overnight uploading (our internet upload speed is painful) I finally managed to get a new video live on my YouTube channel! It’s a little vlog of what I got up to over the weekend- there was a little wedding dress shopping (and some intense squealing, because I maybe possibly found The One and it’s beyond perfect!), a trip to B&Q in search of some photo frames, and, of course, some pretty serious Nutella-eating.

If you enjoy it, please do subscribe to Cider with Rosie on Youtube! A ‘May Favourites’ video will be coming up next, so stay tuned! :)

Cider-with-Rosie-Spring-Wishlist

It’s been a little while since I wish-listed here on Cider with Rosie!

It’s not that I’ve not been shopping. Hah. No, that is most definitely not the case. I’ve been on a self-imposed spending ban recently (wedding-saving and all) but have needed to break said ban on the odd occasion over the past few weeks to purchase ‘Spring-essentials’. You know, things like sleeveless chambray shirts (needed, or else I’d have not a stitch to wear), new photo frames (plain walls are just not Pinterest), and cute lamps to fancy up dull corners (light *is* essential, right?).

Those Birkenstocks though, they’re still on my ‘to buy’ list. I’ve never been much of a Birkenstocks girl to be honest- I remember trying on a pair when I was a teenager and looking so much like a child who’d borrowed her Mum’s shoes that it was kind of embarrassing, but now…I want a pair. Badly. Preferably black…or maybe white or grey or taupe. I do need a pair of walking shoes for summer, after all…

Oh, and those candles! I spotted them yesterday afternoon whilst on a lunchtime jaunt to Marks and Sparks, and it was all I could do not to buy one in every scent. The lemongrass and rhubarb scents especially were incredible- the lemongrass smelled exactly like the fragrance our room in Edinburgh was perfumed with (a scent I’ll always and forever associate with being newly engaged) and the rhubarb one? It smelt SO good you could almost kid yourself that the little jar was full of rhubarb compote and vanilla ice-cream, instead of plain old wax. AND you can save the jars afterwards and write on the little blackboard labels on the front with chalk! I’d be interested to see how they burned, because if they smelt half as good whilst burning as they do cold they’ll be just about the best candles ever!

L I N K S ::
1. Boden Sleeveless Chambray Shirt (I actually bought this a week or so ago and it’s since sold out in most sizes, but keep an eye on stock levels if you fancied picking one up for yourself because they often release more items throughout the season!)
2. B&Q Pistachio Green Desk Lamp
3. Marks & Spencer’s Lemongrass Chalkboard Candle Pot (p.s. currently on sale at 20% off!)
4. Topshop Monochrome Tapered Jersey Trousers (don’t you think they’d be the comfiest things to wear on warm spring and summer evenings?)
5. H&M Turquoise Dipped Wooden Bowl (so much love that bright blue!)
6. H&M Wire Basket
7. Birkenstock Arizona Sandals
