The first frost.

21.01

Yesterday morning we woke up to the first frost of this year.

It wasn’t a particularly heavy frost. Just heavy enough to sharpen the edges of everything it touched, and necessitate a good twenty minute stint of car-defrosting before we could set off on our morning walk.

It was tricky to choose between taking a flask of tea out with me to keep my hands warm, or leaving my hands free for my camera, so that I could capture the frost in all its glory.

Guess which I chose?

Feeling chilly just looking at these pictures! Beautiful photography.

I wonder if the snow’s on its way. As long as it doesn’t arrive on 6th February and mess up my flight to the sun! I desperately need to see some rays!!

I don’t know about yours but my pup goes MENTAL when it’s frosty – I think it’s that he loves the cold, crunchy ground under his paws! So cute.
Also, I’m glad you chose the camera over the flask because these photographs are so beautiful!

    • Rosie

Haha, how cute! Teddy doesn’t really bother about the frost too much, but goes insane in the snow! It sends him completely hyper- even more hyper than he is normally!

I know most people hate the first frost as it’s a sign of all the chilly days to come … but I think it’s so beautiful. There’s something magical about it. Although, I can’t believe you are just getting your first frost!!! I think ours came in October!

I love the frost and snow – it makes everything look so beautiful! Especially in the countryside.

I definitely would have chosen the camera over the tea too.

These are so stunning and it’s almost as I can feel you being out there in the cold, fresh air with your camera in your hands! It would be so easy for me to lazy inside, but not for you darling Rosie! You made the best of it!! They are gorgeous.

It looks so lovely where you live, Rosie. Since this was your first frost, I assume it doesn’t ever get really cold?

    • Rosie

This winter has been crazy mild so far. Usually we get snow around this time of year, and it gets cold enough that the pond outside our house freezes right over for weeks on end. Don’t think we’ve dipped down into minus figures once this year though, it’s really weird!

  • http://kimiandme.blogspot.co.uk Christina

Gorgeous pics, something quick magical about them. I love early mornings and the cold air!

  • http://www.lovinglifeinwellies.wordpress.com Chelsea

Awesome photos. I haven’t been out much to capture the winter beauty, I guess because I’m a big fan of spring / summer. But looking at your photos and a few others today I’m planning some trips soon. I’ll just have to get the gloves out and back pack for my flask too!

P.S I always feel sorry for the sheep being out in this weather, I just want to put them in a stable and cuddle with them.
