‘No. It’s too bushy at the bottom…Too many bald spots…Too straggly up top…Too skinny in the middle’
‘Those people are trying to poach our trees. Don’t put any more trees down. How many can you carry at once?’
‘Ugh. That’s horrible. Who would buy that?…Oh. Those people just there…’
‘How about that one over there, like on the other side of the patch?’
‘That couple over there have got really good tree-finding luck. Let’s follow them and get whatever one they decide not to buy…’
‘That first one we found really was the best wasn’t it? Do you reckon it’s gone now? Shall we go back and look for it?’
‘We’re never going to find one! I’m tired, let’s just give up now.’
‘None of these trees are as good as last year.’
‘Don’t get stroppy! We’ve nearly managed a whole tree-buying day without getting stroppy.’
…
^^ Every. single. year. ^^
But we found a tree, and she’s perfect! And we still love each other!
Hooray!
