We took Teddy up to Virginia Water lake late morning, and spent ages tramping along a kind of hidden path away from all the crowds and bikes and children who aren’t too keen on sopping wet spaniels who desperately want to be their friend. We stopped plenty of times along our walk to take photos (well, duh!) and were lucky enough to come across that handsome little hedgehog! It was actually Ted who spotted him, and it took all our powers of coaxing and temptation to call that dog away from what he clearly thought was a brand new ball lying on the ground just for him. Yeeeesh. Oh, and I promise I didn’t get too close when taking the little guy’s photo, so as not to bother him.

We finished walking just as the hugest storm broke overhead, so took our lunch (a ginormous hot dog for me, breakfast roll for Jason, and hot chocolates for us both) back to the car for a carpark picnic, and sat and ate listening to the thunder roll. I don’t think there are many things in life more wonderful than a good storm, but sitting right in the middle of it with my love *and* a cup of hot chocolate? That’s pretty close to perfect.

Autumn-squashes

This week I’m going to work harder at bringing *all* my ideas to fruition, no matter how daunting a project may seem.

I’ve been having all sorts of ideas for short films I’d like to put together just recently, but a number of things, including my failing laptop, the time it takes to put together film projects in comparison with photographic ones, troublesome winter daylight hours, and a fear of venturing into new creative territory have all combined to scare me off jumping in feet first and getting started. But this week I’m going to start looking into getting a new laptop and perhaps pop to the library (old school) to see if there’re any great books about film editing techniques, and then start to put together some little film projects. My worries about ‘Not Wasting Valuable Working Time’, and ‘Creating Substandard Work’ are going to be pushed aside, and I’m going to challenge myself to be more creative and courageous.

Yep. I’m excited for this one :)

p.s. Photo entirely unrelated. I just do so love those beautiful Autumnal squashes.

1. The realisation that, since getting my camera last year and really getting to grips with both it and photography in general, I actually *see* light now in a way I never used to before. It’s an amazing thing to become aware of, after so many years of just living kind of *in* light without really being aware of it. I feel like I see the world in a whole new way now, and that’s pretty great.

2. Wonderful advice from readers! Dannielle recommended I run vinegar through my stovetop espresso pot to remove the corrosion in it (sage advice from her Mum), and it worked like a charm! Thank you sweet lady!

3. Winning arguments with Ted over whether or not he’s allowed to chew my camera remote case to pieces. He put up a good fight, but I prevailed.

4. Birdy’s new album. I was dubious at first, but it’s *such* easy listening. Light Me Up is my favourite song by far.

5. Nail varnish that dries so fast you can slap it on whilst sat on a blustery train station, and not end up with a single smudge. Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic is the bomb.

6. Thick knitted tights.

7. Apple slices with peanut butter. Granny Smith apples work best, all sharp and tart against the peanut butter. So delicious!

8. Frosty morning air. I love the feeling that the morning air’s whipping life into my body.

9. Listening to the parakeets calling to one another whilst walking up at Virginia Water with Teddy.

10. My sweet Mum, always just a phone call away. Very, very grateful for her.

What’s made you happy this week? :)

Blogosphere magazine is a brand new publication written by bloggers, about bloggers, for bloggers. It’s tangible, in an almost entirely intangible industry. And I think it’s absolutely brilliant. Continue reading
