There must be something in the air at the moment, because I’ve become a bit obsessed with self-improvement. I just can’t keep from setting myself challenges, making resolutions, and wanting to give new things a try. I thought January was supposed to be the time for new beginnings, not late Summer? Anyway, I guess it’s no bad thing! Here’s what’s on my to do list of the next few weeks…
‘To make’
This kale, edamame and avocado salad. I’ve been trying not to eat bread at lunchtimes since it always makes me so lethargic in the afternoons, so I’m going to give this salad a try and hope that it’s a far more energising lunch.
‘To try again’
I’m going to have another go at making ice cream this month, so am on the hunt for good recipes. First on my list is yoghurt gelato, after Mum and I became totally addicted to it in Italy last summer.
‘To try’
Not this yoga pose exactly, but Jason and I have decided to have a go at Pilates! Well actually, I decided that Jason and I should have a go at Pilates which is pretty much the same thing, right? Anyway, I’m excited! We’re signing up for a local class on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Things are about to get reeeeeaaaal competitive…;)
‘To grow’
A basil plant! Since my other herbs are still going strong (over a month and a half now, say whaaaaa’?!) I’ve decided to try my hand at growing basil. I’ve always had big trouble growing basil in the past, but reckon this time I might be able to keep it alive past day three of its windowsill-life.
‘To…pickle?’
Would you just *look* at this pickled slaw, by my forever-foodie-crush Deb? Doesn’t it look so amazing? Last summer was the summer of my pickled cucumber obsession (I ate so many it hurt my stomach, and Jason had to start hiding the jar. No joke) and I reckon now’s a good time to take things to the next, very vinegary level. I’m going to buy a bumper crop of vegetables later on today, and start a-shreddin’ and a-picklin’.
‘To paint’
These ombre nails have stolen my heart, and I can’t stop thinking about giving it a go myself. I think it’s going to be the sort trend that looks wonderful on tall, elegant New York women and makes me look even more like a 14 year old, but hey! It’s too pretty to pass up!
‘To wear’
I love the deep side parting of this hairstyle, and the thick braided bun. I think I’d like to wear it when we go to a wedding later on this month.
