A sunset, an encounter with some horses, & thoughts on blogging.

Sunset-over-countryside

Jason and I decided to venture into new territory on our evening walk the other night, and took Ted for a walk in some fields in the next village along from ours. The horses who live there are huge, and were pretty intrigued by Ted. We deliberately skirted round the outside of the field so as not to bother them, but they trotted right on over to say hey. I think my heart almost fell out of my mouth when Ted spooked and ran away, and the larger of the two started to run after him! They were ever so gentle though, and the most friendly and inquisitive one even leant down to give Teddy a little sniff. It was the sweetest thing :)

Also, check out that sky! It was glorious. Like a proper take-your-breath-away kind of evening.

Horse-in-field

You know, I’ve been really, really enjoying writing my blog recently. I love it always (of course!) but for the past couple of weeks the words have just been flowing so easily in a way they haven’t before. I used to always feel the need to check back through my writing and amend it over and over again, to read it through to Jason and see what he thought, and even to compare my writing style with that of other bloggers I admire. But that seems to have all dissipated over the past few weeks.

Is this what real writers call ‘finding your voice’?

I don’t know, but it’s pretty nice :)

    Hi there Rosie,

I must say I’ve enjoyed reading your blog recently and I think that comes from you writing it so easily. The photos are always beautiful and the words are always well placed.
And lucky for me, that means you’ll continue to write so I can continue to read :)

Your blog has always been a favourite of mine. the past few weeks your blog has been even more inspiring I love the new look.I have been struggling with blogging recently I’ve found I read so many blogs and get so inspired that I loose my own “voice” then nothing I write feels authentic. Do you ever get that? xx

I think your blog is lovely and you shouldn’t worry about how your voice sounds – just keep writing as you are, it’s great! A few months ago before I’d started a blog, I read somewhere that you should just pick a person and write to them as you would do usually. I pick my mum or brothers to write to and I find that the language and structure I use is far more ‘me’ than imitating someone elses voice would be.
Keep it up Rosie, I love your posts!

It’s nice when blogging just flows like that, isn’t it? I find I still get the odd post where I sit and stare at my keyboard for ages with no idea what to say, but usually, as you say, I think I’ve found my voice.

Your evening walks are a far cry from what I would experience where I live! How nice it must be to stroll through fields and see horses. Glad you have found your blogging voice…I’m still croaking!
