i spent a a day last week with my friend cath, and her little girl ruby. days spent at cath’s during the summertime always feel like a scene straight from a famous five book. there are trips to be taken down country paths, ponies awaiting a visit from friends with carrots, friendly neighbourhood ducks more than happy to be fed by hand, and swings ready and waiting in the playground for us to squeeze ourselves into, even though two out of three of us are just a bit too big for them.
it took an awful lot of restraint not to include every single picture i took of ruby the other day in this post, you know. she’s the most charming little girl, and i love her so. a month or two ago she managed to convince a temporary helper at her nursery that her name was ariel (after the little mermaid, of course). she did it so successfully that the nursery worker ended up hunting round the cloakroom for a peg with the name ‘ariel’ on it. she’s got style, this little one…:)
below: ruby took this photo herself! isn’t it artistic? :)
below: this pony has the best hairdo. ever.
