1. catching a snowflake on the end of my nose whilst out walking with ted.

2. eating cookies and milk with jason just before bed. sometimes we feel like kids still ;)

3. seeing a duck on the pond outside our house for the first time since last summer! hurray!

4. meeting my mum in town for coffee and a midweek catch up :)

5. going on long walks with ted through the woods (even though he does get oh so dirty, and ruin my poor car seats)

6. also, those long old naps that ted takes after a big walk make me pretty happy too! ;)

7. doing household chores- cleaning, laundry…i know they’re kind of dull and you’re not supposed to like them, but i just do!

8. eating proper breakfasts. pancakes, scrambled egg on toast, poached eggs. it’s what winter mornings were made for!

9. sorting through the memory box i started when i was about fourteen :) i found some real treasures in there that i’m so, so glad i kept.

10. the random showers of snow that’ve been falling all week. just magic :)

happy friday, everyone! i’m so glad the weekend is almost here, aren’t you? we’ve got some fun stuff planned for the next couple of days- i’m off to london tomorrow with jo for a fancy lunch, and on sunday jason, ma, cesca and i are having an old school bowling and takeaway night!

what do you all have planned for this weekend? :)

31. i am terrible at whispering. i either speak at full volume, or mouth silently. my grandma was the same, and so is my mum!

32. i hate being drunk, and don’t like the taste of alcohol at all.

33. when i was really little, i remember thinking that being able to peel a grapefruit (tricky old things) was the height of maturity and skill. i aimed low, it seems ;)

34. i also used to think that when you popped a video (that’s what came before dvds, my younger readers ;) into the video player it sent a message to a little man in a room saying ‘please play sesame street christmas special’ or whatever, and then he pushed a button and it started to play on your telly!

35. i like my steaks rare.

36. i’m allergic to shellfish.

37. until last year, i didn’t own a single nail polish or eyeshadow. then i discovered beauty blogs, and said goodbye to my bank balance…

38. my birthday falls on the cusp of sagittarius and capricorn star signs.

39. i once served russell crowe when i was working as a waitress in a fancy hotel. he heard me click my neck, and recommended i see a chiropractor. #claimtofame

40. i don’t like cream, or full fat milk, or the taste of butter, or custard. yuck.

so here’s what happened yesterday:

- teddy tripped himself over whilst spinning round with his tail in his mouth, did a roly poly (i just had to google how to spell that, by the way) and ended up draped across the vacuum cleaner. he was mighty confused by the whole situation, and i laughed a lot at the look on his sweet face!

- i decided that for lent, i’m going to follow naomi’s lead and give up technology for one whole day per week. it’ll be a big challenge (and isn’t that ridiculous?!) but i know it’ll do both jason and i a world of good.

- teddy and i went walking, and tackled the big hill at the country park once again. my progress up the steep steps went like this: up one step. pause and pant for five minutes. up another step. pause and marvel at ted’s ability to bound right on up to the top with minimal effort. up another step. become convinced the dog’s judging my pathetic climbing pace, and try to go a bit quicker. get to the top. barely manage to restrain from lying down on the floor to recover. cross to the other side of the hill, then wobble shakily down the other side on empty jelly legs. in my defence, that hill is absurdly steep and my legs were still sore from working out the previous day. note to self: get. fitter.

- i drank about fifty million cups of tea, and took a hot water bottle with me on a car journey. it was awesome. i also ate a mango for breakfast, which made me sad that it’s not spring yet.

yesterday i was reading: harry potter (always). eating: mexican chicken salad. listening to: maroon five’s album ‘overexposed’.

tell me, how was your tuesday? did you all enjoy pancake day? :)

since i’m spending this evening babysitting my favourite littl’un and so won’t be available for a traditional pancake day eatathon (hey look, i’m talking about food again! what a surprise), jason and i decided to name sunday ‘unofficial pancake day’. jase was given a fancy crepe maker for his birthday, and we thought it’d be the perfect chance to road test it for the first time! he was batter maker-in-chief, and we took turns (and got competitive, naturally) making up the crepes.
we had dreams of being like the chef we met on holiday in crete last summer, who had the whole ‘wafer thin crepes that cook in seconds’ thing down to a fine art. how did we do? well, that raggedy edged specimin in the photo below is proof this crepe-making business is harder than it looks…;)
