1. meeting up with the lovely tabitha from scared toast! she is an absolute doll! :) a doll, and also a terrible influence when it comes to shopping, so i’m now poor. bummer.

2. giving up my phone in the evenings. i mentioned before that i’d decided to try and be less screen-focused, but i never realised quite how liberating it would feel. i love it!

3. watching the heron make his daily visit to our pond, along with a male and a female duck! we’ve got our fingers crossed for ducklings being born this spring!

4. seeing a man on the tube in town last week cradling a very shiny silver teapot on his lap. i love the special kinda crazy you find in london ;)

5. reading blogs. sometimes focusing so much on writing my own little blog (and taking pictures, and photoshopping, and coming up with ideas…) means i forget how much i love reading other people’s. this week i’ve taken some time to read through a few of my favourites, and it’s reminded me why i fell in love with this strange little online world in the first place :)

6. planning a little giveaway for my blog’s one year anniversary. i know it’s still a couple of months away, but i do like to think ahead!

7. cadbury’s mini eggs. i love them so.

8. spending time with my mum :)

9. fried gnocchi. i’m addicted.

10. remembering happy times with my grandma. a couple of times in the past few days the most vivid and tangible memories of her have come flooding into my mind, and it’s been just wonderful. she’s felt so close this week, and i’m grateful :)

happy friday, everyone! what do you all have planned for the weekend? :)

dear abs…i’ve done jillian michael’s six pack ab workout twice. why have you not formed yourselves into two orderly rows of three yet? hmm?
dear toad in the hole…you’re the best dinner, with the funniest name. we love you.
dear sunshine…you are glorious. thanks for making those twice daily walks such a joy.
dear egg sandwiches (and that’s something i never thought i’d write)…why did i not discover how amazing you are before now? you rock. and you’re usually the cheapest sandwich going too, which rocks even more.

dear ted…where have those blessedly long afternoon naps gone, hey?
oh and also ted…would you mind not running through every puddle you see when we’re out and about? only, i can’t afford to have my car valeted on a weekly basis, and you do make the seats turn a rather nasty shade of greige.
dear mama…can you be on half term all the time please? i like you being available for afternoon dog walks and cups of tea :)
dear electricity…i’m glad you’re back to full power. wandering around with soaking wet hair because the hairdryer wouldn’t work was no fun at all.
dear jason…you’re the cutest. the end.

41. my favourite activity as a child was acting out disney films in front of the television. i used to be snow white, lady (from lady and the tramp, naturally), and those dancing mushrooms from fantasia. can you tell i spent the first eight years of my childhood without a sibling? ;)

42. i’ve can hear like a bat. though not literally, of course.

43. roses are my favourite flower.

44. from the ages of 16 to 18, i probably brushed my hair about twenty times total. i liked the messy look, and thought that not brushing it the best way to achieve it. turns out, it’s actually just the best way to achieve dreadlocks.

45. in junior school i decided that my best friend grace’s handwriting was nicer than mine, so i copied it. my handwriting is still a shoddy version of hers.

46. i’m terrible at telling the time.

47. right before bed when i was little, my grandma used to hold my hands and bounce me up and down on the bed whilst we sang silly, made up songs. jason is adamant that this pre-bed excitement is the reason i can now be full of energy right up until i get into bed, and then fall asleep immediately as soon as my head hits the pillow.

48. i’ve never dyed my hair.

49. my favourite book is ‘little women’, by louisa may alcott.

50. if i had been a boy, my mum would have named me max!

and that’s it! fifty random, vaguely interesting (i hope) facts about me! i couldn’t think of fact number 50 last night when i was writing this post, and so asked jase ‘what’s a fact about me i could share?’ he replied ‘uummmm…you’re an idiot? that’s definitely a fact.’
…so fact number 51 is that my boyfriend thinks he’s a comedian ;)

do you see that? it’s spring! real life, blossoming, sun-shiny spring!

london looked beautiful yesterday. since there were about a million train cancellations (thank you, tfl!) jo and i ended up trekking out to the king’s road by foot from the nearest (not so near) tube station. it sort of turned out to be a blessing in disguise though, because instead of being stuck underground in cramped and clammy tube trains, we got to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine and blossom in the streets above.

we ate lunch at the king’s road steakhouse and had quite possibly the best steaks of our lives to date. and those chips? oh.my.goodness. if heaven has chips (and i do hope it does), i think those chips will be supplied directly by the king’s road steakhouse.

after lunch, we had a wander down the king’s road and ended up in anthropologie. when jason and i are million-trillionaires and money is no object (yeah, right) i’m going to go to anthropologie to and buy one of everything. actually scratch that, i think i’ll just buy the entire shop, and move right on in.

how cool are these animal heads?! i’m currently campaigning for a zebra themed hallway in our house. it’s not going too well so far, but i’ll keep you updated…

jo and i had the loveliest day together yesterday. we hadn’t had a proper catch up for such a long time, and i have so missed her. sometimes a date with your best friend is the best pick me up in the world, isn’t it?
also, do you remember that episode of friends where joey finds his hand twin? yup? well miss joanna is mine. if that’s not proof we were meant to fall in friend-love and be chums forever, i don’t know what is.
