‘Puppies are a lot of work, you know?’

20.11

when jason and i first told family and friends that we were planning to get a puppy, the vast majority of of people said the same things…

‘you’re mad!’
‘puppies are so much work…’
‘you do realise you’ll have to walk it every day right?’
puppies are a huge commitment, you’ll be so tied down!’
we knew that these things were only said out of concern for us, but the negativity very nearly put us clean off the idea! why don’t people ever tell you about the absolute unbridled joy and loveliness that a pup can bring to your lives? :)
for example, on sunday jason and i took ted up to the lake, and met up my godparents and their handsome dog freddy. the weather was glorious- crisp and bright, and all the colours looked extra vibrant. we walked a good long way round the lake (though ted’s little legs aren’t up to a full lap yet!) and then sat down at the little outdoor cafe for coffee (for the ‘grown ups’!) and hot chocolate (for me!;)
it was a perfect autumnal day, all rosy cheeks and muddy paws and bundling up in layers. that’s what having a dog is all about, and it beats the early starts, standing in the cold waiting for ted to ‘do his business’, and having to vacuum on a daily basis hands down, every.single.time.

People said the same thing to me when I got my cat ‘you’ll be so tied down’, ‘its such a commitment’ ‘what about when you go on holiday???’ Yes I’ve been tied down a bit, and I have to find people to take care of her (and the following 2) when I go away, but she’s still the best decision I ever made

the good stuff beats the annoying stuff hands down xx

We had exactly the same when we bought our puppy – he is now 5months old and the best thing we have ever done, it has enhanced our lives. Is Ted a spaniel? He is so much like our puppy Monty.

This is such a true post! When we got our dog Barney – literally had no idea of the work involved but it’s all worth it just to see the love he has for you! To take him for walks where he loves taking in all the different smells, and the humans are all layered upp! Lovely. Teddy is so handsome!

I really don’t like how people just assume you have no idea what you’re doing when you mention getting a pet. Puppies are hard work but they are 110% worth it!

People will most likely see the negative in getting any pet. Cats for example destroy everything in your house and everything is always fluffy. However, their personality and the little joys they bring to your life make up for it all plus more. x

Our family has had two puppies over the years and I personally wouldn’t cope well with a puppy but I imagine the cuteness balances out all the inconveniences x

We have a very love-frustration relationship with our pups – but they are A LOT of work (especially having two) but totally worth it. Lucky for those big puppy dog eyes! x

I have to agree with you on this post 100% I have been the same with Alfie (our Cocker Spaniel). They bring so much joy, even when he wakes up at around 6am everyday but it is so worth it for their cuteness and cuddles :)
