i love weekends where we don’t have anything planned

i love taking ted for walks, and watching him discover the joys of splashing through puddles (i think he’s going to be a swimmer!)

i love bright sunshine after days of rain
i love sleeping in late, and having naps in the afternoon
i love roast dinners cooked by my mum
and mostly…
i love jason
and i especially love how when i smashed his iphone on sunday evening, he hugged me and said it doesn’t matter instead of getting mad. he’s unfailingly kind :)
tell me, how was your weekend? :)

monday: risotto bianco (this is an old photo of a bacon and leek version, since the pictures i took on monday disappeared from my phone!)
tuesday: chinese takeaway (we had bare cupboards, so what else was there to do!?)
thursday: bacon and leek pasta
friday: homemade pappardelle and fresh pesto
saturday: gammon, roasted new potatoes and tenderstem broccoli
my favourite?  fresh pasta  jason’s favourite?  risotto  on the menu for next week? chicken cassarole (i never got round to making it last week!) and cottage pie.
what’s on your meal plan for the coming week? :)

p.s. one month today and it’ll be christmas? where is the time going?!

1. hearing jason tell his mum that he couldn’t have got through this week without me. this was jason’s first week in charge of his new company, and it’s been a toughie. super early starts, a hefty commute, and an overwhelming amount of learning to do. i’ve been working super hard to support him, and it’s so so lovely to be appreciated :) i do love that man.

2. watching a tornado of leaves swirling round the park yesterday afternoon

3. the tuft of hair on teddy’s head that just refuses to lie flat. it melts my heart :)

4. leisurely trips round waitrose. my mum’s trying to convince me to shop online, but i just find mooching round the supermarket so therapeutic!

5. original bbc dramas. jase and i just finished watching ‘hunted’, and it was uh-mazing.

6. finally finding this year’s copy of the good housekeeping christmas cookbook magazine! i loved last year’s and made so many of the recipes- can’t wait to get cracking on this year’s batch!

7. watching ted waiting for jason to come home in the evenings. from about five thirty pm he lingers in the hallway keeping one eye on the front door, and almost explodes with excitement when he hears jason’s key in the lock. it’s pretty much the sweetest thing i’ve ever seen :)

8. new favourite breakfast combination: natural greek style yoghurt, fresh blueberries and a drizzle of golden syrup. yum!

9. listening to the heavy rain falling when we went up to bed last night. nothing’s more relaxing in my book.

10. planning a christmas shopping trip with grace in london on the first of december, followed by a girly sleepover complete with popcorn, face masks, and our favourite will ferrell movies. i can’t wait!

what’s made you happy this week? :)

yesterday i did not skip class in the morning…
it was definitely not my only class of the day, on one of only three days a week i actually have to go into uni…
i did not eat leftover chinese food at ten thirty in the morning…
i did not watch the same episode of friends multiple times, when it was shown repeatedly through the day…
i did not decide to dust, get halfway up the stairs, and then decide that that was enough and that i would do upstairs tomorrow…
i did not eat minstrels, fruit pastels, and some unidentifiable refresher-type things i found in my handbag…
i also did not eat about a billion small meals spread through the day, including, but not limited to, a bowl of wheetos, beans on toast, the aforementioned chinese food, and toast with peanut butter…
and i did not very briefly abandon my car at uni on some double yellows with the hazard lights flashing (a.k.a. the ‘park anywhere’ lights) so that i could park right outside the library, and avoid trekking across campus with tons of (overdue, predictably) books in my arms.
it’s pretty good i didn’t do any of those things, because then i’d have to write yesterday off as the most unsuccessful and lazy day in history. right?!

image: found via pinterest, originally from imgur. it’s kinda unrelated, but i like it. i think this kiddo was experiencing what the teens my sister’s age term an ‘epic fail’…;)
