i’m home! my ma and i arrived back in england yesterday afternoon and were greeted by a spetacular thunderstorm that chased us round the m25, complete with claps of thunder and ‘proper’ forks of lightening! it was oh so different from the beautiful sunshine we’d been enjoying for the past week in lake garda where (unless i seriously mistranslated the coach driver’s grumblings) there’s been no rain for two whole months! the lake was just gorgeous, and i’d go again in a heartbeat. mum and i stayed in the little town of malcesine, and found it to be by far the prettiest of all the towns we visited. it was about as quintessentially italian as you can imagine- mazes of winding, cobbled streets, colourful buildings, balconies overflowing with flowers and a gelateria on every corner.
oh, that gelato…we pretty much ate it twice a day for a week (don’t worry, my diet starts now!) and the yoghurt flavour was my hands down favourite. in fact, i’m determined to find a recipe for it immediately and to start making use of my mum’s still-in-the-box ice cream machine!

aren’t those just the prettiest soaps? i think they look like tiny cakes!
round two of the photos from beautiful italia to follow tomorrow. stay tuned, folks…:)

1. My pets.
Right now we have an assortment of one extremely temperamental black and white cat, a firestarter of a tabby cat and a gorgeous fluffy rabbit that is so laid back that I sometimes fear he’ll fall over.

2. Rain.
The sun burns me, the wind makes me cold, but rain is easy to fight with an umbrella and is very soothing when I’m indoors reading and it’s beating against my windows. Plus my umbrella has kitty cats on it, and I do love those cats.

3. Drinking tea.
Mines an english breakfast brew, milk and two sugars please!

4. Etsy shopping.
Have you discovered etsy yet? I resisted it for so long because I’d heard so many good things that I knew I’d end up spending a fortune. And then I decided to stop being so stubborn and just get involved.. I’m running a little short on funds this month because of it.

5. TV programme marathons.
Sometimes it’s nice to stare mindlessly at the TV for hours and hours on end. At the moment I’m rewatching every episode of Buffy on Lovefilm. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll see that I have quite a few debates with myself over who my favourite character is. I’m fairly certain that Xander and Anya are my favourite couple, anyway.

6. Scented candles.
I’m obsessed with the glade spiced apple scent right now, and I love Yankee Candle cookie and cupcake scents. And anything vanilla.

7. My mum’s dogs.
She has 6 of them, and I love them a lot. Especially the latest addition, a tiny gremlin eared thing named Ellie.

8. Really good handbags.
You could probably call this a fetish, actually. I have a crazy amount of bags, bags are what I go towards as soon as I step into a shop, I look at them online when I’m bored, I’ve even been known to actually dream about the Mulberry Alexa. Oh, bags. Bags bags bags.

9. Long baths.
After a long day is there anything better than a soak in the tub? I have a pretty big range of radox bubble baths and use a different one depending on how I’m feeling. My favourite is the ‘relax’ lavender scent. Yum.

10. My boyfriend.
I love him, he’s just as sarcastic as I am. Yes, that is possible (cheeky.)

do you know, i’m writing this post exactly three months to the day since i began my little blog? :) hooray for reaching little milestones! i’ve decided to write a post summing up all of the loveliness and inspiration and beauty that i’ve stumbled across within the blog world over the past three months (or ‘quarter’ as proper business folk like to call it), and hope that this will be the beginning of a lovely ‘quarterly’ blog series! here goes…:)
in the past three months…
♥  i made a lovely lovely blog friend called charlotte, whose blog ‘charlotte’s web’ was the first british blog i ever read! i must confess that before i found charlotte’s blog, i genuinely thought that there were no british bloggers at all! how naive is that!? charlotte’s ‘conversation’ style posts are laugh out loud funny, and i’m so happy to have found another ‘absurdly obsessed with cats’ kindred spirit.
♥  ‘a beautiful mess’ made its way into my list of daily reads. elsie and emma’s creativity is astounding, and their photography tips are just so incredible for anyone (like me!) beginning to dip their toe into the big scary world of lenses, aperture, and shutter speeds!
♥  i stumbled across olivia’s beautiful blog ‘what olivia did’ in june, and it fast became my all-time favourite fashion blog :) liv’s dreamy photos of paris made me want to jump straight on the eurostar, and her chic ensembles are just super inspirational. also, she’s friends with cherry healey. pretty awesome, right?
♥  i found marvellous beauty blogs like zoella, sprinkle of glitter, and what i heart today! my love for beauty products doubled (yay!) and my bank balance subsequently halved (boo!).
♥  my own little blog has grown and changed such a lot in the past quarter, and (although i hate to get all x-factor and talk of ‘journeys’ and ‘growing so much’) i really am enjoying developing my ‘blogging voice’ :)  this little letter i wrote to jason at the beginning of summer has been by far the most viewed and searched-for post on cider with rosie, and since it’s also my own personal favourite post that makes me a happy little soul.
here’s to the next quarter!
