A grande vanilla latte, please.

06.08
jason and i visited our local branch of the world’s best loved coffee shop on sunday, and treated ourselves to our favourite drinks (me- grande caramel coffee frappuccino with no whipped cream, him: grande vanilla latte). we talked about our future, about how we’re looking forward to the red starbucks cups and christmassy drinks coming back this winter, and did some people watching.
i wanted to take a photo of the sweet little caramel square that we shared, but in the two seconds it took me to take the lens cap off my camera jason had taken a great big man bite out of it and made it less than photo-worthy! perhaps there should be a support group for boyfriends/husbands/friends of bloggers, who get their heads bitten off for daring to touch food before it’s been photographed? ;)

haha, when we went to starbucks last week luke got really grumpy that i made him wait until I’d taken photos of our food before he could touch it. Men just don’t get it do they? I’m tempted by the sound of a vanilla latte.. x

haha i’m so glad it’s not just me this happens to! jason always gets in a proper grump if i take too long photographing stuff before he can eat! so funny that luke does it too! vanilla latte is jason’s all-time fave :) have you tried the starbucks vanilla syrup that you can buy and use at home? it’s pretty good stuff! x

I’m looking forward to Christmas too! And this may sound silly, but I love this photo…did you take with your large payday treat camera? Which Canon did you go for? I can’t quite make out the model number! x

i’m so glad so many people are looking forward to it, as i think my blog is basically just going to be one long christmas fest from october, haha! :) thanks so much, my boyfriend is going to feel very proud of himself because he took this photo! and yup it is the one i treated myself to last payday, it’s the canon eos 600d. it’s awesome, i’d wholeheartedly recommend it! are you looking to buy a camera at the moment? x

Yeah…I love the faded bokeh effect, but my camera wants to keep everything in focus so it’s impossible! Did you have to do lots of manual settings to get this shot? X

what camera are you using now? :) i’ve been reading all about depth of field today, and on my camera if you set it to AV you can set the ‘F’ value- controlling how blurred the background is in comparison with the foreground. maybe if yours has that setting you could try that? this photo was shot in creative auto, using auto focus, depth of field set automatically and with the flash off :) hope this helps! x

Yes that does help! Every time I debate upgrading my camera I worry that setting the depth of field would be too tricky and I still wouldn’t be able to get the style of photo I want! I’m using a fujifilm bridge camera and went on a photography course and even the professional couldn’t get a blurry background. Time to start saving for a new one I think! x

I am a bad photographer but totally obsessed with photographing food so I would definitely make my husband join the support group (I thought a support group for boyfriends/husbands/friends of bloggers, who get their heads bitten off for daring to touch food before it’s been photographed was hilarious and so true). My husband is always grumpy about waiting to start eating so now I embrace it most of the time and love the look of a piece of cake with one bite and the crumbs all over the plate, and the cutlery lying there – it looks more appetizing…Katie of http://whatkatieate.blogspot.ca/ does it all the time and she is a professional food stylist, so why not, right?

Haha, love this Rosie :) and Hell YES. Aren’t boys just so impatient with that? Heaven above, if it looks good, it needs to be photographed, calm yourself boy!

My friends need that support group too!
My long suffering (and patient)other half now takes it in his stride but I was away with some friends at the weekend who weren’t used to me taking my foodie pics, they totally did not get it!
